In June 2018, the Town of Goffstown became 257th community in the United States and the first community in New Hampshire, along with Portsmouth, to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly Communities. In 2017, Goffstown became a participant to the Pilot Becoming Age-Friendly program coordinated by the Southern New Hampshire Planning Commission (SNHPC) with 2 other communities in the region.
Goffstown’s Age-Friendly effort is not developed in isolation, but aligns with other key initiatives, including the Village Rebuild Project, rail trail improvements, expansion of our bus system, and housing, among others. Through all those efforts, Goffstown is actively participating in the growing Age-Friendly network and will have the opportunity both to learn from other communities and contribute to their learning.
