Public Notice - Select Board Promotes Eric Sereno to Police Chief

GOFFSTOWN – The Goffstown Select Board is pleased to announce the Board’s unanimous decision to promote Captain Eric Sereno to Police Chief effective January 1, 2020.

A lifelong resident of Goffstown, Eric graduated from Goffstown High School before beginning his career as Security Forces Officer in the United States Air Force from 2001 to 2005. In 2006 he returned to Goffstown and joined the Police Department as a full-time Patrol Officer. In 2011 he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant, as Lieutenant in charge of Operations in 2014, and to Captain Executive Officer in February 2019.

During Eric’s time as an officer in Goffstown, he has built strong relationships within the community on patrol, as a detective, and as an executive leader. He has worked closely with NH Homeland Security and Emergency Management to develop school safety plans, was instrumental in transitioning the department to an electronic-based records system, and worked tirelessly to make Goffstown Police Department one of the first in the state to have body cameras.

Eric was selected after an internal process to replace Police Chief Robert Browne, who will be retiring from the Department at the end of 2019. After a twenty-four year career with the Goffstown Police Department, Chief Browne will be taking on a new role as the Director of Security at Saint Anselm College, his cherished alma mater. The Goffstown community thanks Chief Browne for his many years of dedicated services and wish him well in his new role.

Eric resides in Goffstown with his wife Sarah of 13 years, and his two children Owen and Max who both attend Goffstown schools. He is an active member of the Goffstown community, volunteering his time between many community organizations including Goffstown Junior Baseball and the Goffstown School District.

The Goffstown Select Board looks forward to working with Eric in the best interest of the Town of Goffstown and the Goffstown Police Department. The public will be invited to a meet and greet with Chief Sereno in the very near future.
