Public Notice - Goffstown Select Board selects Fire Chief

fd logoGOFFSTOWN – The Goffstown Select Board announces the hiring of Shawn Murray as the Fire Chief for the Goffstown Fire Department. Chief Murray has been working as the Interim Fire Chief since January and will take over the full-time duties on Monday, May 2, 2022.

This is a return home for Chief Murray, who served for 12 years as Training Officer, EMS Coordinator, and Line Captain with the Goffstown Fire Department. Chief Murray brings extensive experience to his new role, having served as the Fire Chief in Hudson, NH for 12 years, as the Director of the Massachusetts Firefighting Academy, and as the Interim Fire Chief in Coventry, RI; Hopkinton, NH; Allenstown, NH; and Dunstable, MA through his role as a Senior Municipal Consultant with Municipal Resource Inc. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management, and Economics with a concentration in Fire Administration. Chief Murray is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program with Executive Fire Officer (EFO) Designation and also holds the Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFOD) from the Commission on Professional Credentialing. Chief Murray has extensive management experience and numerous professional certifications and training. He brings his personal commitment for excellence on the job along with his professional commitment to the advancement of the field of firefighting with membership in several fire associations. Chief Murray is married to his wife Dotty and has two adult children.

The Goffstown Select Board welcomes him as Fire Chief and looks forward to partnering with him in the future development of the Goffstown Fire Department. The public will be invited to a meet and greet with Chief Murray in the very near future.
