OIL SPILL CLEANUP UPDATE:
Approximately 750 tons of contaminated soil were removed from the Irving oil spill site on Mountain Road which discharged over 1,000 gallons of heating oil Sunday, November 25th. The excavation required digging up several drainage pipes and a roadside swale with depths up to 11 feet. All contaminated material was placed on plastic tarps, moved into roll-off containers and then hauled off-site by private contractors. The road was then rebuilt in compacted lifts, the drainage pipes reinstalled and roadway paved today Six (6) monitoring wells will be installed in the area for as required by NHDES.
