The DPW will be adjusting the center island and curbing of the Wallace Rd/South Mast St roundabout in the summer of 2021, to improve truck turning movements. This work is a result of a study by the Southern NH Planning Commission and VHB consulting engineers, building upon and verifying a traffic study done by DPW Engineering in 2018.
The original roundabout is one of the smallest in the state of New Hampshire due to limited right-of-way, and truck turning movements have been limited as a result. After several meetings and public hearings in 2020 to discuss changes, the Select Board directed the DPW to include these "short term improvements" as part of the 2021 Road Plan. Work will be conducted during the summer while school is out of session, and include some pavement repairs to South Mast Street to the area west of the intersection.
