POSITION: 

Full-Time Assistant Sewer Foreman, non-union, non-exempt, hourly [ Full Job Description ]

SCHEDULE: 

40 hrs/week, schedule varies. Usually Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

WAGES: 

$19.47 - $28.19 (max) – Labor Grade 4
Starting $19.47 - $20.46/hr., depending on qualifications

DUTIES:

This position conducts technical work in connection with the maintenance of the sewer system. Assists in overseeing contractors in the maintenance of the sewer system and pump stations, as needed. Performs all other related work as required.

  • Assists with all aspects of sewer maintenance with the goal of improving efficiency and extending the operational life of the systems and equipment.

  • Assists with daily operations and record keeping of all the pump stations.

  • Assists with maintenance and grounds of all sewer facilities.

  • Performs repairs in potentially hazardous areas. Operates safety equipment including self- contained air packs, monitoring equipment and related safety equipment.

  • Must be available to assist in winter maintenance operations and respond to system emergencies, as needed 24/7.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Thorough knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in the oversight and repair of sewer collection systems. A NEWEA Collection System Grade I certification is required and must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions that pertain to sewer collection maintenance activities. Working knowledge of the pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.

  • Ability to understand reasonably complex instructions in the proper implementation of a variety of skilled maintenance tasks; ability to perform strenuous manual labor tasks.
